Natural + Earthy Maternity Session on the
Buffalo National River

I literally happy danced around my room when I saw an inquiry come through from Ali. Ali and I were really great friends in high school and ended up going our own separate ways as people do. I've reached the stage in my life where all my high school friends are married and starting their own families and it is the most surreal experience!
For now, photography is my baby. And I love her. SO much. Some sessions just feel very pivotal and this was one of those for me! Each time I pick up my camera, I learn something new and it is so exciting. Here are 3 things I learned from this earthy, maternity session:
- Clothing matters. A LOT. If your clients are wanting something that feels very natural and earthy, they should definitely pick a color pallet filled with warm browns, muted greens, and soft beige.
- Feel free to experiment with poses and prompts. Not every image has to make it to the gallery. Once you have your tried and true shots, this is your time to play! You will grow as a photographer by stepping into the uncomfortable.
- Angles are so much fun. You can set your couple up in one pose and deliver 15 COMPLETELY different images just by moving around your subjects. Get low. Shoot from above. Get close. Go wide. Focus on a detail. There are countless ways to change up your images just by moving around a bit.
Alright. That's enough rambling. Let's get to the good stuff. I present you with a beautiful, natural maternity session along the Buffalo National River!
