There's something truly special about Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Nestled in the heart of Northwest Arkansas, this charming town is known for its unique blend of natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Anna and Dalton's engagement session at Lake Leatherwood in Eureka Springs. Anna and Dalton’s Love Story

Anna and Dalton are one of those couples whose love for each other is palpable the moment you meet them. Their connection is genuine, and their joy is infectious. When they reached out to me to capture their engagement photos, I was so excited! They wanted a location that combined natural beauty with a touch of whimsy, and Lake Leatherwood in Eureka Springs was the perfect choice.

The Charm of Eureka Springs

Eureka Springs is often described as a hidden gem in Northwest Arkansas. Its narrow winding streets, Victorian architecture, and eclectic shops create a quaint and romantic atmosphere that is hard to resist. The town’s history dates back to the late 1800s when it became famous for its natural springs, believed to have healing properties. Today, Eureka Springs retains its historic charm while offering a vibrant arts scene and plenty of outdoor activities.

The Perfect Location: Lake Leatherwood

Lake Leatherwood, located just a short drive from downtown Eureka Springs, is a serene oasis surrounded by lush forests and scenic trails. The lake itself is a man-made reservoir, created in the 1940s, and is part of the Lake Leatherwood City Park, which spans over 1,600 acres. The park offers a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, fishing, and boating, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.

The day of Anna and Dalton’s session was perfect. The sky was soft and overcast which made for some beautiful light near sunset. We started our session near the lake, where the calm waters provided a stunning backdrop for the first set of photos. Anna wore the most perfect Free People dress that really set the fun, carefree vibe of the whole gallery.

As the day progressed, we made our way to a hill overlooking the lake to capture the sunset in a nearby field. It provided the perfect ending to our session!

Explore the Historic District: Eureka Springs' historic district is a photographer's dream! The Victorian architecture, narrow streets, and unique shops provide endless opportunities for beautiful and unique photos. It is giving a major European vibe right in the middle of no-where Arkansas. 😉
Visit the Springs: Don’t miss the chance to visit some of the natural springs that gave the town its name. Basin Spring Park, in the heart of downtown, is a lovely spot for photos and a bit of history.
Ride the Trolley: The Eureka Springs Trolley offers a fun and charming way to explore the town. I love the idea of trying to incorporating a trolley ride into your session for some whimsical and nostalgic photos.
